136 KHZ. Roberto U. Beviglia, LU4BR, President of Radio Club Argentino, informs OPDX that as a result of a rule proposal made to the C.N.C. by the Radio Club Argentino, a portion of the 136 kHz band has been allocated to amateur service on a secondary basis in Argentina. The segment of 135.7 to 135.8 KHz will be coordinated by the Radio Club Argentino until it is finally asigned on a primary basis, in a term of one year.
4S7, SRI LANKA. The JARL Kansai Group will be in Sri Lanka (AS-003) from September 20-25th. They will have a 500 watt amp and Yagi beam and will operate 160-10 meters including the WARC bands on SSB/CW/RTTY/SSTV. Look for the callsign 4S7GXG, 4S7GGG, 4S7YHG, 4S7CHG, 4S7FAG, 4S7QHG, 4S7IJG, 4S7YJG and 4S7DBG. QSL to their home callsigns (which was not provided), direct or via the bureau.
5B, CYPRUS. Alan, G3PMR, will be active as 5B/G3PMR while vacationing from Mike's, 5B4AGX, shack between September 12-18th. Activity will be on CW and SSB. QSL via his home callsign.
5B, CYPRUS. The Russian team of RW3QC, RN3QO, RW3QNZ and RX3DCX will be active as 5B4/RECC from here between September 12-17th. They will also participate in the WAE DX SSB contest as a Multi-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via RW3RN: Alex Kuznetsov, Box 57, Tambov-23, 392023 Russia.

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Saty, JE1JKL, will once again be active as 9M6NA during the CQWW CW Contest from Labuan Island (OC-133), East Malaysia. CANADIAN SPECIAL PREFIXES. Just a reminder that Industry Canada has authorized Canadian amateurs to use the following special prefixes to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Canada. This authority is valid from September 1st, to October 31, 2002. Special event prefixes are:

DU1, PHILIPPINES. David, N2NL, will be active as DU1/N2NL from here during the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 23-24th) as a Single Op/All Band/ Low Power entry. He was orginally going to be active from KH0 but changed his plans.
DXCC NEWS. The DXCC DESK is pleased to announce the addition of the 30- Meter (10 MHz) Single Band DXCC award. Applications for this award will be accepted beginning October 1, 2002. 30-Meter DXCC certificates will be dated but not numbered. 30-Meter credits will count toward the DeSoto Cup competition ending September 30, 2003. They will also be included in the DXCC Annual List totals for the period ending on that date. A 30-Meter endorsement to 5 Band DXCC will also be available. The 30-meter band was added to the standard printout in January 2002. If you received a copy of your record since then, you already have a copy of your 30-meter credits. If you do not know which credits you have on 30 meters, you can contact DXCC for a copy of your record. EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Robert/F6BED, Gerard/F5YD and Roger/F6BDE will be active from September 15-27th as EA8/homecall from several Canary Islands (AF-004), as follow:
Activity will be on 40/20/15/10/6/2 meters on CW/SSB/PSK31 and other digital modes. QSL via their home callsigns direct or through the French REF Bureau.
EY, TADZIKISTAN. Dany, F5CW, is at the moment in Tadzikistan for some months. He is currently waiting for a callsign.
GB0, ISLE OF MAN. The callsign GB2IOM will be used from the Isle of Man (IOTA EU-116) from October 5-11th. The QTH will be the Point of Ayre Lighthouse (L/H number IOM-013) which is in the rare WAB Square NX40. Operators G3WNI/Bill, G0PSE/Tom and M5RIC/Richard will be active on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via the Bureau or direct to G0PSE. HI9, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Members of the Florida DXPedition Group (FDXPG), Bill/W4WX (W4WX/HI9), Clarence/W9AAZ (W9AAZ/HI9), Cory/N1WON (N1WON/HI9), and Bob/K9MDO (K9MDO/HI9) will be active from here October 22-30th. They will be a Multi-Single entry in the CQWW Contest. The callsign HI9X will be used during contest. Look for them on all bands, including 6 meters, on CW, SSB, PSK-31, and RTTY before and after the contest. QSL HI9X via W9AAZ and xxxx/HI9 to their home callsign. IOTA NEWS......................
JT, MONGOLIA (Update). Ken/K4ZW and Karl/K4YT will be in Ulaan Baatar on September 9th and stay until the 15th. They will be working on the Titanex vertical at JT1CO QTH, adding more radials and 2 beverage antennas for 160 meters. During their stay with JT1CO, they should be active as JT1FZW and JT1FYT. Activity will be on all bands, and Karl will participate in the WAE SSB Contest on Saturday only. QSL via their home callsigns. Karl adds that he will be traveling to Seoul on business from September 21st through October 1st and hopes to get his HL9 callsign on this trip.
KH0, MARIANA ISLANDS. Look for Shin, JI1CYX, to be active as KJ1C/KH0 from Saipan (OC-086), September 15-18th. Activity will 30-10 meters CW/SSB with 100 watts and dipoles. QSL via JI1CYX: Ota Shin-ichi, 5-23-46 Mori, Isogo, Yokohama, 235-0023 Japan.
KH0, MARIANA ISLANDS. Operators Saty/JE1JKL, Seiichiro/JF1SQC and Yoichi/JP1NWZ will be active in the CQWW SSB Contest as KH0AA from Saipan, Northern Mariana. Activity in the contest will be a Multi Op/ Single Band entry. QSL via JA5DQH.
KH6, HAWAII. Rich, N0HJZ, will be active as KH6/N0HJZ in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th) as a Single Op/All Band/Low Power entry. QSL via N0HJZ (SASE to home address).
KP1, NAVASSA ISLAND. Dave, K4SSU, who has been to Navassa Island and has operated from there and would like to go back, has announced that he has been looking into it for the last several months. He also made the following interesting statement this past week: "I guess that most DXers don't know that the ARRL received a call from an official in Washington DC some time back, asking that Navassa and Desecheo be taken off the DXCC List. Of course, that request was not granted." Dave informed the DX community that "There is a serious effort underway to work out the details for an operation." Also, he mentions that if you are interested in knowing more about Navassa, go to the Web site: http://www.members.aol.com/davidpb4/navassa.html In the photographs taken in 1999, the wire rope ladder to get on the island is still there, but the catwalk is gone.
KP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. Members of the STARS radio club will operate from St. Croix (NA-106) during their anniversary tour using the callsign K9V from December 2-8th. Operators will be Joe/WF9V, William/WW9WW, Ron/W7FLE, Stacey/WG9J and Tom/W9AEB. Activity will be on 160-6 meters CW/SSB/PSK. QSL via WF9V.
KP3, PUERTO RICO. Alfredo, WP3C, will be active in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th) as a Single Op/All Band/Low Power entry. QSL via W3HNK.

PLEASE NOTE: All lighthouses in Brazil are protected and under Brazilian Navy supervision. The access is only allowed by the Brazilian Navy. Official permit is on the way soon. Activity will be on 160-6 meters CW/SSB, full time, on or near the usual IOTA and/or ARLHS frequencies. The callsigns and operators are: PU1NEZ/6 (Carl), PY1NEW/6 (Pete), PY1NEZ/6 (Lima) and PY1VOY/6 (Rick). QSL route: direct or Bureau, according to operator's request.
LX, LUXEMBOURG (Update to OPDX.575). Jan, PA5RA, reports that from September 21-28th, a group of Dutch operators will activate LX/PA6Z. Operations are on 160-6 meters on SSB, CW and RTTY. Their special Web site for this expedition will be online shortly. SPECIAL EVENT. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Normandie-Niemen Airborne Squadron, which was created by General de Gaulle in 1942, look for the special event callsign TM4ENN to be on the air from September 26th to October 9th. Activity will be on 40/20/15/10/2 meters. QSL via the French REF Bureau or via F6BZH.
SPECIAL EVENT. Deanna, K7DID, informs OPDX that the special event station K4P will be operating Wednesday, September 11th to mark the one year anniversary of the events at the Pentagon. Their activity will be from 0400z (Sept. 11th) through 0400z (Sept. 12th) on 80-10 meters, both SSB and CW. QSL with SASE via K7DID.
SV4, GREECE. Gabi, HA3JB, will be active as SV4/HA3JB between October 11-19th. He will be operating on CW, RTTY, PSK31, and SSTV on the following planned frequencies: PSK31 - 14070, 21070, and 28120; RTTY - 14083, 21083, and 28083; SSTV - 14227, 21343, and 28683 kHz. 80 and 40 meter activity is also planned. TK, CORSICA. Vasek, DL4FF, is expected to be active from here as TK/DL4FF between now and October 4th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, CW and SSB. QSL via his home callsign, either direct or through the bureau.
UO2000, KAZAKHSTAN. The members of the radio amateurs Dzhambulskoj oblasti (Taraz of Kazakhstan) will be activating a special prefix UO2000 to celebrate the city's name change to TARAZ (formerly DZHAMBUL). Look for the following callsigns to be active:

YE7, INDONESIA (Special Event/Prefix). To commemorate the 3rd Indonesian Royal Palace Festival 2002, to be held in Kutai, Kertanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, the special event station, YE7V, will operate from September 22-30th. Activity will be on 15 and 80 meters, using SSB, CW, RTTY and SSTV modes. A special certificate signed by the Sultan of Kutai Kertanegara and the Mayor of Kutai Kertanegara will be sent to those who QSL direct to YC7WZ: Sy. Bandi Irwan R., P.O. YV4, VENEZUELA. Dario, YV4GMG, in Santa Cruz informs OPDX that he is active on 6 meters (on 50110 kHz) as well as 20/15/10 meters. On HF, he can also be active on PSK31/SSTV/RTTY/MMT63/AMTOR. QSL via his home callsign. Also active from the same station is Hector/YV4GMH and Maria/YV4GMB.
ZK1, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS (IOTA Op). Members of the SK7DX Southwest Scania Radio Amateurs (SSRA) will activate Rarotonga Island (OC013) and Mangaia Island (OC159), October 1-14th. Operators will be SM7EQL/Bengt and SM7DKF/Ronnie. Look for the operators to sign ZK1EQL and ZK1DKF and be active on CW and SSB. QSL to the respective operator's home address. ZL7, CHATHAM ISLAND (Update/Reminder). Ken Holdom, ZL4HU (Group Organizer/ Team Leader/QSL Manager/Kermadec DX Association), announced this week that the ZL7 DXpedition will begin transmitting on October 17th (providing the weather is favorable), and they will be operational for approximately 11 days. The team will be operating through the CQWW SSB Contest and closing down immediately after this contest. Their special callsign will be announced in the very near future. They made an earlier announcement that there would be no Web site and no on-line logs, but due to the considerable number of requests that have been received, they will now be offering both facilities. Be looking for further details. Due to the very high cost of air-freighting their equipment from New Zealand to the Chathams, they are welcoming any support towards this cost.
