3V8, TUNISIA (IOTA Op). Andy, DJ7IK, will be on holiday on the Kerkennah Islands (AF-073). His activity will take place during the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th). He will sign 3V8SF/p and be active in the contest as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power entry. QSL via DJ7IK (QRZ.com address).
40 METERS NEWS. Effective at 0100z, October 31st, the 40 meter band for UK amateurs in the British Isles will effectively double in size when radio amateurs there gain access to 7100 to 7200 kHz.
5U, NIGER. Bull, 5U7JB, is expected to be active during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. QSL via ON5NT.
5U, NIGER. The VooDoo Contest Group will again be active as 5U5Z in the CQ World-Wide DX CW Contest on November 27-28th. They will operate from Niamey, the capital of Niger, in the Multi-Multi category with seven stations. Operators will be: G0MTN, G3PJT, G3SXW, G4BWP, G4PIQ, K5VT, KC7V and N7NG. QSL via G3SXW; E-mail requests for bureau go to: G3SXW@compuserve.com. Immediately before the contest there may be some activity (including maybe WARC bands and six meters) with operators personal callsigns. There is also the possibility of some activity from XT2 while in transit.
6O, SOMALIA. Silvano, I2YSB, informs OPDX that operators Andrea/IK1PMR, Marcello/IK2DIA, Adriano/IK2GNW, Giuseppe/IK2WXV, Riccardo/IZ5BRW and himself will be active from Galkacyo in the autonomous area Puntland between February 3-17th, 2005. The callsigns to be used are: 6O0G for SSB (QSL Manager IK2GNW) and 6O0CW for CW/RTTY (QSL Manager I2YSB). The Bureau Manager is M5AAV. They will have 2 stations active on all the frequencies. Silvano states, "One of the main aims of this DXpedition is to bring ham equipment to the Somali radio amateurs, fostering in a concrete way the development of amateur radio in the country. To this end, we shall donate yagi antennas, verticals, dipoles, HF and VHF/UHF tranceivers, power supplies, a laptop, coax and accessories for the operation of one or two stations at the local radio club. We are investing all our efforts to make such a difficult and exotic country regularly active on the bands, so as to provide all hams worldwide a better possibility to get a rare new one." Donations towards the expenses of the DXpedition and helping in the procurement of the equipment to be donated are highly welcome. 7Q, MALAWI (Update). Allan, G0IAS, provided OPDX with another update on Les, 7Q7LA. By the time you read this, Les should be in Malawi and is expected to be there for at least 3 months. His first job when he gets there is to get together with Harry, 7Q7HB, and load up the Tower at Club Mak. Les says there will be plenty of activity on the low bands. "IF" there is "Propagation"... and that the Seasonal Rains don't make things too noisy. Operating schedule is forthcoming. REMEMBER, QSL DIRECT ONLY to G0IAS.
A5, BHUTAN (Update/QSL Correction). The members of the Clipperton DX Club, composed namely of Gerard/F2VX, Jean-Louis/F9DK, Vincent/G0LMX and Alain/ F5LMJ, are now active as A52CDX. Look for the team to be active during the CQWW SSB Contest. The team will be there until November 11th. For more details, please refer to OPDX.682. CO8, CUBA. Juan, CO8TW, will be in the next CQWW DX SSB Contest as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power entry. EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Tomas, LY1DF, will be active as EA8/LY1DF during the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) possibly as a Single-Op/All-Band or Single-Band entry. QSL via LY1DF. He will concentrate on the low bands and will also be active on CW a few days before and after the contest.
EY, TAJIKISTAN. By the time you read this, Jacques/F5LYF and Jean Louis/ F5NHJ are expected to be active as EY/F5NHJ until March 2005. Activity will be on HF and 6 meters, mainly CW. QSL via F5NHJ.
HI3, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Mike, GW3UOF, will be active from here as GW3UOF/HI3 between November 28th and December 12th. He states that he has already received his licence. Activity will be mainly CW on all bands 160-10 meters, but some SSB and all digital modes will be used. QSL direct to his home callsign, GW3UOF, or via the RSGB bureau.

J7, DOMINICA (Update to OPDX.682). Denis, K7GK, who will be active as J79A in the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th), informs OPDX that he will be in Dominica from November 25-29th. He plans to be active on all HF bands (160-10m) with low power concentrating on the CQWW CW Contest with limited time, operating CW and SSB before and after the contest. All antennas are field-day style - 3-bander for 10/15/20 and wires for lower bands. QSL via K7GK.
JT, MONGOLIA. Khos, JT1CD, reports that the JTDXA team will be active as JU1DX during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest. Operators are: JT1BV, JT1BJ, JT1BL, JT1BZ, JT1CJ, JT1CZ, JT1DR and Davka. QSL via JT1BV.
JW, SVALBARD. Erik, LA2VOA, will be active as JW2VOA now through November 25th, from Bear Island (IOTA EU-027). Activity will be on 80-10 meters, including the WARC bands, mainly SSB. QSL via LA2VOA (QRZ.com).
LX, LUXEMBOURG. Les, G3VQO, will be active as LX/G3VQO in the next CQ WW CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. Look for him to be active before the contest, November 26th, on the WARC bands CW. QSL via his home callsign, direct or via the RSGB bureau.
P4, ARUBA. Look for John/W6LD, Rich/N6XI and possibly two other operators to be active as P40L during the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Multi-Single. QSL via K5WW.
PACIFIC DXPEDITION. Michel/F6COW, Dominique/F6EPY and Radi/F6GNZ will be on a DX vacation from the following locations:

SPECIAL EVENT. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the famous French poet Arthur Raimbaud's birth, the Charleville-Mezieres area hams will be active as TM8RIM until November 3rd. Activity will be on CW and SSB. QSL via F0EHB.
SPECIAL EVENT. The Ballarat Amateur Radio Group (BARG) will be operating a special event station VI3BML from November 27th through December 5th. Activity will be on all bands and modes. Station VI3BML is on the air to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the rebellion at the Eureka Stockade, famous in Australian history. QSL via the bureau or VK3BML. SZ1, GREECE. Kostas, SV1DPI, reports that the Radio Amateur Association of West Greece (RAAWG) will participate in the CQWW DX SSB Contest as a Multi-Single/High-Power effort with the club's callsign SZ1A. QSL via the bureau is "OK" or via RAAWG, PO Box 84, 30100 Agrinio, Greece. Also, LoTW is "OK" too.
VK3, AUSTRALIA. Tony, VK3TZ, will be operating in the CQWW DX SSB Contest as a Single-Op/Multi-Band/High Power entry. His activity this weekend will be from a scout station with monbanders for 10, 15 and 20 meters at 80 ft. He will have two loop antennas on 40 meters at 80 ft. and an 80m at 80 ft. He will also have some rippletech slopers and sloper arrays on 80m and 160m. He hopes to have a good signal from Zone 30 on all bands for a new "Multi" for most of you. Tony states, "Don't forget the LP from VK on 20m at around 2100z to USA and Caribbean."
VK9A, COCOS-KEELING ISLAND. The VK Contest Club (VKCC), VK2IA, will be active as VK9AA in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via DL8YR.
VP2, MONTSERRAT. Trond, LA9VDA, will be active as VP2MLA from Montserrat Island (NA-103), November 19-30th. Activity will be on all bands 160-10 meters; please look for him on the usual DX frequencies. Modes will be CW/SSB/RTTY. Trond will also be active in the CQWW DX CW Contest. QSL via his home call. ZX0, ANTARCTICA. OPDX was informed that Roberto, PT2GTI, is in southern Brazil and will be leaving for the Antarctica on October 30th or 31st. He is expected to be on the air between November 11/12th to November 17/18th possibly as ZX0GTI or ZX0ECF. QSL via PT2GTI.
