MADAGASCAR, 5R
Gerard, F2JD, of S79JD and 5Z4JD fame, is bound for
Malagasy. His expected workload will preclude him from getting on
the air until next month, though his stay is until September. All
bands, CW, SSB and RTTY are planned. QSL via F6AJA.
SAN ANDRES ISLAND, HK0
Bob, K1WGM, plans to sign HK0/K1WGM in the
ARRL DX Contest this February. He will concentrate on 160 meters.
QSL direct to his home call sign.
WAKE ISLAND, KH9
Due to transportation difficulties, this
DXpedition has been delayed for a week. Equipment has been shipped,
however. Listen for AL7EL/KH9 between February 1 and 7. Email and
URL addresses will soon be announced.
FIJI, 3D2
JI3CEY will be operating CW and SSB on 80 through 10
meters January 25 to February 1. The call sign to be used is
unknown at press time. QSL to his home call.
TUNISIA, 3V
Albert, F2KN, should be active until January 21. He
hopes to operate SSB from 3V8BB during evening hours his local time.
LAOS, XW
Adri, PA3BWS, will leave January 16 to visit family in
Laos. He hopes to obtain operating permission for a trip planned
for 1997.
SEYCHELLES, S7
Jan, DJ8NK, is still busy operating as S79NK and
should remain so until January 20. QSL via AF2C. He plans to get
on the air while visiting ZS6 land in February.
SOUTH ORKNEY ISLANDS
LU6Z continues to be very active, with many
New England network spots being for 160 meters. Operators LU6UO and
LU1ZPF are operating from the Argentine Base on Laurie Island. QSL
via LU6EF/GACW, Box 9, 1875 Wilde, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
VATICAN CITY, HV
Max, IK6RUM, will operate SSB from HV4NAC
starting January 20. QSL via IK0FVC.
ARUBA, P4
John, K9UWA, and Jean, N9PXF, plan a multi-op effort
signing P40I in the CQ WW 160 Meter contest later this month. They
will sign P40/K9UWA before and after the contest. QSL via K9UWA
direct or via the buro. John requests SASE or equivalent for all
direct cards and to not send any card to the P4 bureau. Mike, K4PI,
will be on from Aruba signing P49I January 22 to 29 and operate in
the CQ WW 160 Meter contest. Outside contest hours he will be on
low bands, 30, 18 and 24 MHz.
BELIZE, V3
Alan, NS0B, John, WC0W, and Robert, WG9L, will operate
in the ARRL DX CW Contest in February. They should be in Belize
February 14 to 19. Though mainly a contest effort, there should be
some operating starting on the 15th after 1800z. Their contest call
is V31EV. Non-contest calls will be V31EV for NS0B, and V31TP for
WC0W. The V31 call for WG9L was not available at press time. QSL
contest QSO's via NS0B. Non-contest QSL's go via individual
operators USA calls.
ANTARCTIC MARITIME MOBILE
Bill, KA1WEG, will operate on 14180 and
14260 kHz January 25 to February 6 from aboard ship.

N5GO has been receiving QSL cards for 8Q7SS. Please note
the correct QSL Manager for 8Q7SS is K5GO.
PIRATES COVE
3A2LU has been receiving QSL's for a station claiming
to be 3A0IARU. 3A0 prefixes have not been issued since the 1970's.
THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO
The ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes starts
at 1900z Saturday and runs to 0400z Monday. For complete contest
rules see page 107 in January QST. Other events this weekend
include the Hungarian DX Contest, North American QSO Party phone and
QRP ARCI Winter Fireside SSB Sprint. Check page 105 in January QST
for more info on these.
