This edition is the DX-NL no. 1000 since the counting of the original German DX-MB started in 1977. Walter Geyrhalter, DL3RK, first published the DX-MB in 1953/1954 but started the counting with no. 1 each new year. It was not possible to find out when and by whom the first English translation (DX News Letter) of the German DX-MB was made.
KH0 - MARIANAS KH0N (JA6CNL) and KH0/JA6IP plan to be QRV from Saipan (OC-086) on 10m-80m including WARC and 6m from July 14-17. They will work in SSB/CW and plan to participate in the All Asian DX CW Contest. QSL via homecall or via NKDXC, Box 805, Yahata, 805, Japan.
J5 - GUINEA BISSAU Dave, KC9IM, is working for the US State Department and will stay here for two years starting on July 18. He hopes to receive the call J52IM and plans to hit the airwaves by the mid of August when all his equipment (A4S and R7 vertical) arrived down there. He will work on 10m-40m and if he is not working contests you may catch him on a DX net. QSL via KB9XN.
7O - YEMEN Geraldo, IK8JAF, was the surprise of the month. Since June 16 he is QRV as 7O1JAF from Sana. Geraldo is on a business trip in Yemen and tries to be on the bands during his spare time. Unfortunately he is working in SSB only and with 100 watts and dipole antennas he does not produce loud signals so that the only lucky ones who will work him will be the BIG GUNS. By this time Geraldo cannot work split and he does not like pile ups. Everybody can try to work him on 14200-14220 kHz starting around 1600 Z and on 7075 kHz at 2000 Z. QSL for 7O1JAF via IK8JAF.
OY - FAROE ISLAND (EU-018) Greg, SQ6CWP/SM6RXS, and Mario, SP6OJG, intend to be active with 2 stations simultaneously in CW (Greg) and SSB (Mario) on all bands between June 27 and July 9. The call will be OY/SM6RXS. QRGs: SSB: 3780, 7080, 14240, 14240 kHz; CW: 3505, 7005, 14001, 21001 kHz and also WARC. A colour QSL will be sent directly or via the bureau via the QSL manager SM6RXS.

5V7HR/5V7ML DL7UBA and DL7ALM made 7500 QSOs (CW 5600, SSB 1600 and RTTY). Most of these QSOs were made on 40m and 20m. On 160m they made only 170 QSOs (7 of them in SSB). The minority of the QSOs were made on 15m- 10m because there were only very few openings.
HB0 Ralf, DL3JSW, writes that the planned activity from Liechtenstein (July 14-27) will be cancelled due to the fact that besides of the French crew there will be also a Dutch DXpedition to HB0. He thinks that the need of HB0 QSOs is not big enough for three DXpeditions. Nevertheless Ralf still hopes that he will be active from Seborga signing T00SW starting around July 10 and afterwards signing 3A/DL3JSW from Monaco.
IOTA Mike, DL2SEK/AH6OM, and his YL Moni, DL1SEN/WH6DAG, will be on the air from Isla Margarita (SA-012) signing YV7/AH6OM and YV7/WH6DAG some time in July. They will work mostly in SSB using a TS450, a R5 vertical and a wire antenna. All QSLs via DL2SEK.
CORRECTION in the DX-NL 999 there was a wrong QSL route for JG8NQJ/JD1. The correct QSL information for JG8NQJ/JD1 is via JA8CJY.

4K2MAL: (later R1FJL, homecall UR5MAL) writes that his old manager UA4RC did not answer all incoming cards because the 4K2MAL QSLs went out. UR5MAL printed some new QSLs himself and promised to answer all cards via bureau or direct if enough return postage is enclosed (1 US-$ or 2 IRCs). His address is: UR5MAL, E.V. Chepur, PO Box 23, 349 340 Krasnodon, Ukraine.
