3C0DX UPDATE. As a follow up to OPDX.299, a DXpedition to Annobon Island (IOTA AF-039), Africa, is being organized by the U.R.E. (Spain's Radiomateurs Association). The operation will be on air from May 20-27th, 24 hours a day, all bands, SSB, CW, RTTY, Satelitte and 50 MHz. There will be 3 complete stations on the air using the callsign 3C0DX. The team of operators are: Jose/EA4BPJ (team Leader), Nuria/EA3AOK (XYL), Josep/EA3BT, Angel/EA1QF (URE's General Secretary), Paco/EA4BT (Spain's DXCC co-manager), Toni/EA5GRC, Teo/EA6BH (EX-3C1DX), Francisco/EA6WV, Jose/EA7KN, Julio/EA7JB (3.697 kHz Saturdays night's EADX-Net Director and from O.N.C.E. Spain's Blinds Association), Olli/OH0XX, Pekka/OH1RY and Mac/W9EVI. All operators are first class with a lot of experience in DXpeditions. QSL via EA4URE. 3X, GUINEA. Philippe, F5IEV (ex-TR8LVP), now signing 3XY3A, from Conakra, will be active until June 15th. He can usually be found active on 14020 and 14130 kHz. He has also been reported on 21236 kHz between 1730 and 1830z. QSL via F5IEV.

8Q, MALDIVE ISLANDS. Mike/OE3MZC and his XYL Barbara/OE3YCB, will be active from Rashdu-Atoll (Island Kuramati) from April 30th to May 14, as 8Q7MZ and 8Q7BZ, respectively. Activity will be on all HF-bands but mostly on the IOTA frequency of 14260 kHz. The pair will be using a TS-50s with 100 watts and a dipole antenna hanging from a palmtree. The island's measurements are 2500m long by 500m wide, and it is one of the largest island in Maldives. 9N, NEPAL. Kazu, JA8MWU, will be active from Katumandu, Nepal, now until May 6th as 9N1WU. This will not be a full-time DXpedition, but he plans to take in some sight seeing. Kazu hopes to operate mainly during the evening and morning hours. His activity will be SSB only on 75, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters. QSL to JA8MWU via JARL bureau or direct to Kazunori Abe, 9N1WU, P.O.Box 1214, Kathmandu, Nepal. Also coming up in mid May, Murray, VE5SM, is reported to be active as 9N1SM. His activity will be mainly 40 and 20 meters. The only other detail given is to QSL direct to VE8PW or via the bureau.

ASIA TRIP (EY8 and UK4). Karl, K4YT/DL4YT, has traveled again to Tashkent on the 25th and plans to be Dushanbe on the 28th. Karl states this is a working trip but when possible he will be active. UK9AA informed Karl that he has his UK4YT license renewed again and the same was done by EY8CQ for Karl's EY8 license. Karl's proposed travel plans are:

BS7H, SCARBOROUGH REEF. JUST A REMINDER! Activity will begin this week on April 30th. Refer to OPDX.301 for operating frequencies.

FR, REUNION ISLAND. Helmut, DJ4VW, will be active from here May 1-15th, as FR/DJ4VW. Activity will be on 160-10 meters. He likes operating on 17 meters, so look for him 18165 kHz.

HS, CHANG ISLAND. A DXpedition to this Thai island (IOTA AS-125), located in the "Gulf of Thailand North East Group", may take place on May 7-11 with the callsign HS50A or HS2A.

IOTA NEWS......

NEW BEACON. Toshi, JA1ELY (Editor of "The 59 Magazine"), reports a new 10 meters beacon is running in Japan. The beacon's callsign is JA7ZMA and operates on 28.188 MHz from Fukushima (Grid Locator-QM07). It is running on 50 watts from a stacked turnstile dipole at 700m above sea level and transmits "VVV DE JA7ZMA JA7ZMA JA7ZMA QM07" (5 sec QRX then repeat).

QSL INFO AND NEWS....

SPECIAL EVENT STATION. Beginning at 2100z May 1st to 2100z May 31rd, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Ukhta Radio Club there will be special stations activated by Ukhta Radio Club members. Look for the following:

Rochev, UA9XEN, states, "It is good opportunity for completion of conditions of 'The First Oil of Russia Award' with special stamp '50 years of Ukhta Radio Club'. It is necessary 1 QSO with UE50X... or 2 QSO with Ukhta on HF or 1 QSO on UHF or 1 QSO by RTTY/PACTOR/PACKET on any band. The application and 4 USD or 7 IRC sent to award manager UA9XEN."

SPECIAL EVENT STATION. Look for activity by TM2VH from the War Muesum in France which will be opening on May 10 to 11th.

S2, BANGLADESH. A few stations were heard active this past week. S21YE was heard on 14195 kHz at 1515z; QSL via G4VLV. S21B was heard on 1409 kHz between 1400 and 1530z; QSL via W4FRU. S21/PA3BTQ was heard on 14116 kHz at 1512z. S21AR was heard 21253 kHz around 0759z.

S7, SEYCHELLES. The "DX News Letter" reports that Paddy, S79MAD, has returned from his stay in GW and is back on air for four more months. Activities will include RTTY on the WARC bands. QSL via GW4WVO.

T30, WEST KIRIBATI. As reported in last week's OPDX.301, Tada, JA1WPX, will be active as T30WP. He was reported on 20 and 40 meters CW. Check around 7003 kHz between 0930 and 1200z and around 14014 kHz between 0130 and 0315z. QSL via JA1WPX.

VK9, LORD HOWE ISLAND. By the time you read this, Ed, K8VIR, should be active from here until May 6th. Keep a close look on 14260 and 21300 kHz for VK9EHH. QSL via K8VIR 1997 CBA.

ZK1, NORTH COOK ISLANDS. "The 59(9) DXReport" states Barry, ZS1FJ, is currently headed for Penryn Island by way of New Zealand and Rarotonga. His flight is dependent on fuel availability. If this is not possible then he will try for ZK2-Niue. Either operation will be for a week. His New Zealand call is ZL1MFW.
