Thanks to the Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Society, Northern Ohio DX Association, Ohio/Penn PacketCluster Network, W1RM, K2PF, KA2AEV, K4QD, W4WX, KD6WW, KG8CO, N9NC, W0YR, 9K2HN, 9V1YC, CT1BOH, EA3ELM, F6AJA, FK8GM, G3NYY, G3SXW, G4BUE & DX News Sheet, HB9BYU, I1JQJ, IK4TVP, PA3DZN, PA3AXU, RA3AUU, VK2ICV and VK4AAR for the following DX information.
3A, MONACO. Mike, W0YR, and Tom, N9NC, are planning a RTTY and CW operation from here, October 23-27th. On RTTY they will be concentrating mainly on North America contacts. They do NOT anticipate operating in the CQWW Phone Contest that weekend. Both have received permission to use the special prefix 3A7G which marks seven centuries of rule by the Grimaldi family. So, look for Mike to use 3A/W0YR or 3A7G/W0YR and Tom to use either 3A/N9NC or 3A7G/N9NC. Meanwhile, the "DX News Sheet" report that Luc, I1YRL, will be active once again from here between October and December as 3A/I1YRL. QSL via home call.
3D, FIJI. Gerard, PA3AXU, reports to OPDX that the authorities of the Republic of Fiji have issued him the licence/call 3D2XU. He will be here from November 4-8th. He is planning to operate CW/SSB on 10/15/20 meters with 100 watts into groundplane. Gerard also states this is "No real expedition but just a holiday stop...." QSL to PA3AXU: Gerard Dijkers, Dr P.A.Cornethof 3, NL-6669 AZ Dodewaard, The Netherlands.
3W, VIETNAM. Just a reminder that a new IOTA will be aired this week. From October 14-20th, look for 3W6VT to be active from Con Dao Island which is part of the Conson Group. Refer to OPDX.320.
6V, SENEGAL. Chris, 6W1QV, and Didier, F5OGL/6W1AE, will be active as 6V1C for both CQWW SSB and CW Contests. QSL via 6W1QV: Christian Saint Arroman, Po Box 3263, Dakar, Senegal.

Bruce will also take InterNet requests for bureau replies at: kd6ww@inreach.com. He asks that the request be titled "8Q7AJ QSL Request" and contain the usual information. Also, he asks that InterNet requests not be sent until after November 12th when he returns.
9U, BURUNDI. Alex, PA3DZN, will go to Bujumbura for a period of three months, possibly (probably) much longer. He will arrive there during the week of October 20th. With the assistance of Alfredo, 9U5CW, and Jean-Pierre, 9U5DX, he has applied for the callsign 9U2L. Alex states HAL Communications Corp. has sponsored one DSP4100 modem for digital operation, and Wyvern Technology Inc. included the latest version of the WF1B RTTY Contest/DXpedition software. Other equipment that he will take along is a Kenwood TS570S, a Ten-Tec Centaur amplifier, and a Force12 C4 (10-40m) beam. Antennas for the low bands are something that he will have to sort out locally with wire antennas, depending very much on the location. He also noted that he will be there on a work assignment. Therefore, operating time depends very much on the spare time he has. QSLs for this operation will go via PA3DMH, who also holds the logs for 9X5EE, 9Q2L, 9R1A, D25L, and ZS6/PA3DZN. Log search is available at: http://www.igr.nl/users/pa3dmh/logs/log_search.html.
A4, OMAN. Mary, G0BQV, will be operating as A4/G0BQV from October 16-24th. She will be on CW only, operating mainly on .025 each band. There was no info provided on 80 or 160 meters. QSL via G0BQV.
CORRECTION AND UPDATE. As mentioned in OPDX.325, Maurice, ZL2MF, and Ken, JA3MVI, will be Pacific island hopping. They have made a correction/update on the final leg of their Pacific islands tour. They will be active from the 3D-land as 3D2MF and 3D2KY from October 17-23rd, NOT 15th to 23rd as first reported.

They announced that they will be active as FP/KG8CO in the CQWW Phone Contest and will operate as a M/M entry. QSL via K8AQM.
FT5W/X/Z, CROZET, KERGUELEN AND AMSTERDAM ISLAND. There are conflicting reports on this on! One report states Rene, FT5X/FR5HR, heard from Kerguelen Island, will be active for about one more week before he goes to Amsterdam Island (FT/Z). Another report states, Rene, who was heard on maritime mobile headed back to Reunion Island. He will be there a week or so before going to Crozet. A comment was made, "As he is on a French Navy ship, he said plans can change at any time. So keep your ears out for him active from any of FT5 terrritories in October". Check 21217 kHz around 1345z. QSL via F5RRH.
KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY. KG4QD will be active as a Multi-Single during the CQWW DX SSB Contest October 25-26th. Jan, K4QD (ex WA4VQD), will lead a team consisting of Al/K3VN (ex WA3YVN), Bill/N2WD (ex WD4GDZ), Rusty/KG4AU and other amateurs at GITMO for this contest effort. The team, members of the Central Florida DX Assoc. (CFDXA), will arrive Thursday, October 23rd, and depart Wednesday, October 29th. During non contest periods, look for Jan/KG4QD, Al/KG4VN, and Bill/KG4WB operating primarily on the WARC bands. The team also plans to try some six meter activity. The contest logs and photos will be available on the WEB shortly after the contest. A log search test site containing KG4QD logs from October, 1996, and February, 1997, is available at "http://www.ham.net/cfdxa/gitmo". QSL via home call for KG4QD, KG4VN and KG4WB.

They will be active from Vallemaggia/TI for the Jamboree on the air with the Scouting Group of Vallemaggia and Daro. Activity will be on 80/40/20 meters. A special QSL will be received via bureau.

They hope to operate on all bands 160-10 meters, and there may also be some 6 meter activity. QSL for SV9/G3NYY via G3NYY and for SV9/G4VXE via G3SWH (direct or via bureau for both).
T7, SAN MARINO. During the next CQWW SSB Contest, look for T70A (San Marino Club) to be aired as a Multi/Multi or Multi/Single operation. The opertors will be: DF6QC, DL2MEH, DL4OCL, DL8OBC, I4ZQS, IK4TVP, IV3NVN, IV3TAN, IV3TMV, T77BL, T77C, 777LL and T77WI. QSL via: P.O.BOX 77, San Marino A1, 47031 Rep. San Marino.

They plan to operate HF, both SSB and CW, on as many bands as possible. Phil's license has been issued and his call is KE8RO/TF. They will be in Iceland from the 17th through the 24th of this month. Direct QSLs can go to KC8CSD, or via the bureau to Phil's homecall.
TO5, MARTINIQUE. Ralph, K2PF, reports that Steve, KU9C, and he are heading here for the CQWW SSB Contest this month. They are not sure what their callsigns will be, but expect a TO5* or TO5** callsign. They will be on all bands. Activity will take place before and after the contest, and they will likely include WARC bands, RS-12 and perhaps RTTY. QSLs via K2PF.
V2, ANTIGUA. Team Antigua is once again pleased to announce that it will be activating V26B in the upcoming CQWW SSB Contest in late October. They will be entering the contest as a Multi-Operator/Multi-transmitter catagory from Antigua (Grid Square FK-97 -- IOTA NA-100). In addition, the Team would also like to announce that both the 5 band and 6 band "Certificates of Appreciation" will be available once again for the 1997 operation. Briefly, to qualify for these special certificates, all you have to do is work V26B during the CQWW SSB Contest period on either 5 bands or 6 bands to receive the special "Certificate of Appreciation". Members of Team Antigua will also make special attempts to be active on the WARC Bands, RTTY, and 160 meters. Here are the members of Team Antigua and their QSL routes:
VI0, MACQUARIE ISLAND. Alan, VK4AAR, reports that the special event callsign "VI0ANARE" will be used from Macquarie Island from October 25-31st, and then it will not be used anymore. The custodians of this callsign (celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE)) insist that QSLs go ONLY to VK4AAR direct with return postage and self addressed envelope: Alan Roocroft, c/o Post Office, Dalveen. QLD 4374. Australia. >From November 1st, the boys on Macquarie will revert back to their own callsign and QSL managers until their return to Australia soon.
VK9, LORD HOWE ISLAND (Update). Dan, K8RF, and Nick, VK2ICV, will be active as VK9LX. Due to the cancellation of the 3C0 DXpedition, they have an opportunity to borrow the Battle Creek Special antenna to operate on 80/160 meters. Unfortunately, they are faced with both time and financial constraints in their effort to get the Battle Creek Special antenna to Lord Howe. As the Lord Howe DXpedition is without any commercial sponsors, their budget is already stretched to the limit. For this reason they appeal to the DX community for help. If interested in helping, donations can be sent to: Lord Howe Island Dxpedition VK9LX, c/o Nick Hacko, P.O Box 730, Parramatta NSW 2124, Australia.
