8J, JAPAN. The 12th annual Japan Jamboree station 8J7BSJ will be active during August 3-7th, from Moriyoshi town in Akita prefecture. QSL via JARL Bureau.

8Q, MALDIVES. The "DX News Sheet" reports that Tony, G0EZU, will be active August 16-31st as 8Q7JD from Kuredu Island. Activity will be 80-10 meters including WARC bands, with a FT-767GX, dipole and vertical antennas. QSL via home call.

BV, TAIWAN. "The 59(9) DXReport" states to look for Jurgen, DJ3KR, to be active as BV/DJ3KR from July 24th to August 12th. QSL via homecall.

BV20, TAIWAN. The 20th annual Asian and Pacific Jamboree station BV20APJ will be active from August 2-9th. Operations will be from Pingtung (BV7). Activity will be on 80-10 meters on CW/SSB. The first 15 minutes of each hour will be mainly for QSOs for Scout persons only. QSL via BV QSL Bureau.

EUROPE TRIP (DL/HB0/LX). Jay, K4ZLE, reports that he will be in Europe on business from July 18th until August 3rd. He will be in Germany (DL) during the work week, in Liechtenstein (HB0) from July 24-26th and in Luxembourg (LX) from July 31st to August 2nd. Jay said he will most likely be using his UK callsign under CEPT provisions. So, look for DK/MU0BKA/p, HB0/MU0BKA/p and LX/MU0BKA/p. Activity will be on 15, 12 and 10 meters (as conditions permit) with activity mostly on CW and RTTY. QSL via K4ZLE. During his nighttime hours, Jay will try 40 and maybe 80 meters if the noise isn't too bad.

FREQUENCY CHANGE. The Down Under County Hunters net have now moved to 14.336 MHz. The net will still start at the usual time of 0330z and continue until the band folds up. This announcement is directed at USA stations because they are who the "Down Under Gang" want to work in order to confirm their counties.

HH, HAITI. Phil, KC0ARG, is scheduled to visit HH2NH's QTH from July 24-30th and plans to be active as HH2/KC0ARG. Operations will be on SSB 20 and 10 meters. QSL via F6DJB.

In the August issue of QST's "How's DX?" column, it was announced that Bernie McClenny, W3UR, editior/publisher of "The Daily DX", will be editing this column starting in September. IOTA NEWS (BIG WEEKEND COMING UP! The RSGB IOTA Contest is this weekend.)

• RARE IOTA. According to the RSGB IOTA DIRECTORY and YEARBOOK 1998/ 1999, Little Diomede, IOTA NA-150, is the #1 most wanted IOTA in North America. Tom/W6IXP and Barry/K6ST, will activate Little Diomede Island as KL7/W6IXP from July 22-29th, starting approximately 2100z. Activity is subject to change depending a upon a number of factors including weather, which could potentially delay travel onto the island and the beginning of the operation by a factor of days. To arrive on the island, the DXpedition team takes a special helicopter 35 miles from the Alaska mainland to Little Diomede Island. Assuming the weather and travel plans cooperate, look for them on the bands or check out their Web site at: http://www.netcom.com/~barryb/na150.html for live updates, including schedules, live spots, and on-line logs. The online Web log search, is being provided courtesy of "Islands on the Web" (IOTW - http://islandchaser.com). They will operate mostly SSB the first 5 days, then CW and RTTY additionally!   • SSB - 14260 (listening up 5), 21260 (listening up 5), 7090 (KL7/W6IXP listening up 7180 +- ).
  • CW - 14040, 21040 and 7040
  • RTTY - 14080, 21090 and 7038 kHz (along with possibly Packet, Pactor, and APRS - Time permitting!)

• AS-066. The Vladivostok ARC and The Vladivostok Contest Club members Alex/RW0LBK, Aleksey/RW0LKA, John/RW0MM, Vlado/UA0LCZ, Meela/UA0LHT (YL military first class CW op) and 2 SWL (Pavel/R0L-3 and Valeriya/ R0L-6) plan to be active from Russkiy Island (43'02"N 131'53"E ) as RZ0LWA from July 23-27th (IOTA Contest included). They will operate 80-10 meters on CW/SSB and 2m/70cm FM/SSB. They will also be celebrating "The Day of Russian Navy". QSL via bureau or RW0MM: P.O.Box 73, Vladivostok 690090 Russia.
• AS-090. Noh, DS1DBX, in Seoul, Korea, informs OPDX that the Hanyang University Wave Research Club (HL0C) have plans to operate from Tokjok Island August 1-5th. Activity will be on 40-15 meters (10m Optional).
• EU-007. Mike/EI2IB and Anthony/EI2HY will activate the Irish Blasket Islands using the call EJ2IB. The EastCork Group will be active from the Irish Bere Island (IOTA not known by editor) using the call EJ7M.
• EU-010. Gavin, GM0GAV, reports that he will be operational as GM0GAV/P from Isle of Lewis in the outer Hebrides in next week's IOTA contest. He will take part as a Single Op 24 hr CW section using verticals and an amplifier. QSL via bureau or direct (OK in callbooks since 1987).
• EU-030. Mario, DL5ME, is on the way to Bornholm Island. He will sign as OZ/DL5ME and plans to participate in this week's IOTA Contest as a 12 hours-only SSB section. • EU-30. Karsten, OZ4FF, will be active in the CW part of the IOTA Contest from Bornholm Island. QSL via Box 121, DK3700 Roenne, Bornholm Island Denmark.
• EU-090. Radio club Split 9A2A (9A1AKL) will activate 9A8P from Palagruza Island from July 23rd to August 2nd. Operators will be 9A3NU, 9A3LO, 9A4NA (T98N), 9A4SP (T98P), 9A5IQ (F5PIQ) and 9A3A (5B4ADA) (pending travel arrangements). Activity will be on the HF bands, mostly using SSB and CW. QSL via 9A1AKL, bureau or direct to P.O. BOX 439, HR-21000 SPLIT, CROATIA.
• EU-116. Members of the Bristol Contest Group will be operating from the Isle of Man during the 1998 IOTA Contest using either GT6YB/P or GD6YB/P. QSLs will be handled by G3SWH (Phil Whitchurch, 21 Dickensons Grove, Congresbury, Bristol, BS49 5HQ, United Kingdom) or via the RSGB bureau.
• NA-100. Remember to look for V26VG to be activated by GM4FDM and the Scottish Group during and after the IOTA Contest. QSL to GM3UTQ direct or via the bureau. After the contest, the operators will use V2/homecall. QSL for these operation to their home callsign.
• NA-106. The Dalkey Island Contest Group will be active from the U.S. Virgin Islands in the Caribbean for next weekend's IOTA Contest. They will be active from July 22-29th using their own calls with the KP2/ prefix and will use the callsign WP2Z during the contest. Operators are Paul/EI2CA, Peter/EI7CC, Aiden/EI8CE, Tony/EI6EW, Sean/EI7CD, Keith/EI4FBB and Gareth/EI5FYB. • EU-128. The planned IOTA Contest activity by DL6MHW/P is still not confirmed due to some transportation problems (The old VW of DL3ABL depicted on the 1997-Fehmarn-QSL, has some motor-problems). If possible, Michael will operate again from Fehmarn Island signing DL6MHW/p with Butternut HF6 and 600 watts. • NA-112. Philip/K4EP and Craig/KF4NLM will be active as K4EP from Bogue's Bank for the IOTA contest. They plan to have two stations active for the contest. They will be on 20 through 10 meters and hope to have some activity on 80 and 40 meters. QSL via K4EP.
• NA-154. The Truro Amateur Radio Club will be active during the upcoming IOTA Contest from Pictou Island. The callsign will be VE1AO and QSLs are via VE1VOX.

KH6BZF REPORTS (Part 2 - BAND-BY-BAND PROPAGATION EXPECTATIONS). This will be sent to all OPDX InterNet Subscribers as an additional bulletin.

KL7, ALASKA. Maurice, ON4BAM, reports that he will be touring KL7-land from July 24th until August 9th. His trip takes him from Anchorage to Fairbanks, Valdez, Homer and Seward. Along the way, he will be active on HF while driving and in the evenings from his campsites. Maurice will be using a TS-50S and Outbacker antenna while driving and whatever wires will fit when parked. Look for KL7/ON4BAM on 20 and 17 meters or the higher frequencies as propagation will allow.

QSL INFO AND NEWS.....

• AT0PAI and VU2PAI/50 QSLs. Pai, VU2PAI, reports to OPDX that he would like to inform all Dxers that he apologizes for the delay in replying to the QSL requests for these cards. Pai states that he has been out of the country and was very busy with the work, but QSLs are beginning to go out and the back logs should be cleared up pretty soon. He would also like to inform everyone that the QSL info given in the 1998 call book is incorrect, but the QSL info in the 1996 and 1997 call books are "OK". Correct address is: Ananth G. • Harris, N2ERN, reports that he is NOT the QSL Manager for RV6AB or for any EP station. He states that he does not have knowledge of any operations or the logs, nor the QSLs. Any cards received by N2ERN for these operations will be returned in the SASEs, or if no SASE is enclosed, will be discarded. Contributions will be returned PROVIDED A SASE IS ENCLOSED. He does not know if RV6AB is the QSL Manager for anyone, but RV6AB's address is: Victor Babenko, Box 33, Armavir 352900, Russia

T2, TUVALU. Yoshi, JA2ECL, will be here July 26th and will stay until August 6th. He will be active as T20YK. He will be taking an ICOM IC-706 (100w) and two antennas (2 element beam for 15m and a dipole for 40m). He hopes to operate RTTY as well as SSB. QSL via JA2ECL

TX8, BELEP ISLAND (New Caledonia). Eric/FK8GM, Franck/FK8HC and one other will try to be active from Belep Island (IOTA OC-079) from August 28th to September 2nd. They will use FT1000D, FT1000MP, TH5X, 203BA, R7. They hope to obtain the TX8B call sign. QSL via FK8HC (unfortunately, no bureau and remember one U.S. green stamp is not enough to cover the postage).

WH2, GUAM. Naoki, JE7RJZ, will be active from Guam as WH2M from July 24-28th. He will concentrate his activity on the AO-10 satellite and 6 meters, but he will also be active on HF bands. QSL via JA7FWR.

XV7SW NOW QRT FROM VIETNAM. Rolf, SM5MX, has now returned to Sweden after reactivating his callsign XV7SW during an extended vacation tour. When finally pulling the big switch in Hanoi, his accumulated total was 25,616 QSOs on CW and 59 on SSB. QSL cards can be sent via bureau or directly either to his home call SM5MX or to his manager SM3CXS. Rolf will move to the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo in September. He is contemplating leaving it to others to provide Japan for DXCC.

YO, ROMANIA. Jean, F6AJA, from the LNDX, will once again be active as YO/F6AJA from YO8FZ's QTH from July 22-26th. He will only operate during his free time.

YO-DX HF CONTEST. Ciprian, YO3FWC, reports to OPDX that the YO-DX HF Contest is scheduled on August 2nd, 0000-2000z.
