After successes as 5V7A, the group returns to Ghana this year and will sign 9G5AA. They will enter as a Multi/Multi category installing seven full stations and 18 antennas at a new coastal site in Central Ghana. This year they are trying to build an Oceanic record in the Muliti-Single category. BORNEO/SPRATLY DXPEDITION UPDATE. The 1999 "Hillview Gardens" Borneo DXpedition has announced the operators and the schedule for this operation. IOTA NEWS......

• AS-117. Takeshi, JI3DST, will be active as JI3DST/3, from Honshu's Coastal Island (Awajishima Hyogo) October 30th through November 1st. Activity will be on 15 and 10 meters during the CQWW SSB Contest. QSL via JARL Bureau or direct.
• OC-177. The Indonesian Amateur Radio Society (ORARI) is planning a DXpedition to Samut Island, located north of Jakarta in the Thousand Islands. The operation will start on October 28th and last until November 1st. They are planning to participate in the CQWW DX SSB Contest. A special DXpedition callsign was issued with a prefix that has never been used. Look for 7A0K to be aired. The DXpedition will be on SSB and CW, 160-10m, including the WARC bands. The QSL information is via YB0AI.
• SA-058. The "Grupo DX Caracas" is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will arrange a DXpedition on November 12-14th to Farallon Centinela Island in the Caribbean Sea, located in front of the coast of Venezuela. They will try to get on all bands on SSB and CW. Their callsign will be YW5FC. QSL via W4SO.

J3, GRENADA. Don, K2KQ, reports that he will be active as J3A as a Multi/Multi entry in both CQWW SSB and CW Contest. Ann, WA1S, will be the QSL manager for both contests.

KH2, GUAM. Dave, N2NL, reports that he will be active in the CQWW SSB Contest next weekend as KH2/N2NL, operating from Danny's, KH2JU, new hilltop QTH. It will be a serious Single Op/All Bands effort, 160-10 meters. He is also planning the same thing for the CQWW CW Contest. QSL via W2YC. PJ2, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES. The Caribbean Contesting Consortium (CCC) will be active from Curacao during the CQWW SSB Contest as PJ2C. The team, consisting of Geoff/W0CG, Dan/K8RF, Hillar/N6HR/ES1HR, Harry/W8KKF, Ron/ WA8LOW, Noel/W9EFL, Elsie/N7WDX and Mark/N4OKX will operate PJ2C as a Multi/Single entry next weekend. QSL INFO AND NEWS............

• A message from Lech, LA7MFA, states the following: "It seams like there is a lot of different addresses of mine out there. I guess I have been moving around too much lately: QSL for KH8/KK6HC goes via LA7MFA: Lech Slawomir Tomczak, Froeyas vei 61, 3472 Boedalen, Norway. All bureau QSLs will be answered. But I need some time to make my special color QSL card. I have been operating for 24 hours last Saturday/Sunday from Leone on Tutuila, Am. Samoa using my American callsign KK6HC. I was using IC751A with just 100W into a Butternut HF9VX antenna. I made total 1200 QSOs on 40, 30, 20, 15, 12 and 10m. The condx were very poor as my QTH was on the southern part of the island behind a huge mountain. I enjoyed this very first own radio expedition. Thanks to all who came to say hello. I was trying to make any QSO from the boat on the way back from ZK3CW/T31T expedition but it seems that LA7MFA/MM was not interesting enough. Nobody would bother to answer my CQ call! • Jurek, SP2BIK, reports that their operation from the Polish Lighthouse in Krynica Morska during the "International Lighthouses Weekend" they operated on CW, SSB, FM and Packet Radio. They made over 1600 QSOs on HF bands. Presently, they are still waiting for printing of the QSL cards to be done. Once the cards become available, they will be distributed the same way they were received.
• NEW QSL MANAGER. A new manager has been announced for the upcoming operations: PX7G, Fort Queijo (Nov. 12-16th); ZY7G, Fort Brum, (Nov. 19-22nd); and PQ7G, Fort 5 Pontas (Dec. 3-6th). QSL via PS7AB to the Bureau or direct to: Rony Reis, Caixa Postal 2021, 59094-970, Natal/RN, Brazil.
• SEND NO GREEN STAMPS. UK9AA reports that they have a problem with the postal service in their country of Uzbekistan. He requests to "PLEASE, DON'T send your QSL cards with Green Stamp". He states that foreign letter asre being opened, and it is better to send IRCs instead of "Green Stamps".
• RN PREFIX IS RUSSIAN. Igor, RN3ZQ, reports that many outgoing QSL Mail from the USA for the Russian radio amateurs (with prefixes RN) are being sent to the UN QSL Bureau (Kazahstan). This is wrong, RN prefixes are for RUSSIA.
• SAVE YOUR GREEN STAMPS. Abdollah Sadjadian, EP2FM, reports that the station signing EP2AS on 30 meters on October 10th, stating to QSL via UR5SAS, is not a licensed station. He mentions that the EP2AS callsign was issued to Mostafa Shafii a good 40 years ago, and he was a very skilled CW operator. He may be a possible silent key now.
• NO LONGER QSL MANGER. Jack, N2VW, reports to OPDX that in the past he was the QSL Manager (and licensee) for VP5O (1992), VP5N(1993), VP5R (1994) and P40T (1995). However, he no longer acts as a QSL manager for ANY of these callsign. Those particular logs are closed. These contest callsigns have been re-issued by the respective licensing authorities in recent years. He requests and states the following: "Please remove my call from your any of your data bases that show me as manager. Hope it works ... The flood of bureau cards is getting expensive. However, those I do receive are redirected via the bureau if I can find a manager."

SPECIAL EVENT. For the 50 year anniversary of the Aviation Civil School, the club F6KRQ will be using the callsign TM0AC now until October 31st.

SV, GREECE. Look for SV1DKR to be active next weekend in the CQWW SSB Contest as a Multi/Multi entry. QSL cards are OK via bureau.

T8, BELAU REPUBLIC. Look for JA1WSX (T88WX), JH4OWG (T88??) and JA7AYE (T88??) to be active from Belau between October 28th through November 2nd. They will participate in the CQWWDX SSB Contest as T88WX as a Multi/Single category. Before and after contest they will operate on all bands with their own callsign. TI, COSTA RICA. JA6WFM, JM6EBU (TI5EBU) and JM6UAA will be active from here between October 29th through November 2nd. They will participate in the CQWW DX SSB Contest as TI5EBU together with TI5KD as a Multi/Single category. Before and after the contest they will operate TI5/homecall. UA0, ASIATIC RUSSIA. Yuri, UA0SJ, lives in the city of Bratsk, 600 kilometers on the north side of Lake Baikal. VQ9, CHAGOS ISLANDS. A report received from Rick, NE8Z, states that Ron, VQ9DX, has been looking for stateside on 1828 kHz for about 4 nights a week, but with no takers. He has had a couple of fair European openings at his sunrise, but no stateside. Ron states, "Currently we're back on the hook, not dockside, so I can't get to the club for sunrise for the next couple weeks at least. But continue to be QRV at our sunset on 1.828. Usually stick around till after W6 sunrise." QSL via AA5DX.

XU, CAMBODIA. Andy, G4ZVJ, was active for just 24 hours on September 18th, after eventually being issued the callsign XU7AAV in Phnom Penh. He made 850 CW QSOs. ZX0, FERNANDO DE NORONHA. The Araucaria DX Group in Brazil has organized a multi-national operation from Fernando de Noronha for the CQWW SSB Contest as a Multi/Multi entry. The team will have U.S., Bulgarian, and Brazilian operators at the ZX0F contest station from Fernando de Noronha Island. Operators include PY5EG, PY5CC, PP5JR, PY5GU, PY0FF, PY5ZBU, K1CC, K1LZ, K1ZM, K2DM, N5FA, LZ1JK and LZ1JY. The group will be using all ACOM 2000 amplifiers from ACOM. The antenna system is as follows:

• 160 meters: Verticals using balloons, phased inv-L
• 80 meters: Rotatable dipole, 4-square, wire beams
• 40 meters: 3 el yagi, 2 el yagi
• 20 meters: 5 over 5
• 15 meters: 5 over 5
