DX ANNOUNCEMENTS

ANTARCTICA, VP8/A, AN-016 The three operators of the Italian Antarctic station "Baia Terra Nova" (Filippo,IK0AIH, Fabrizio, I0HJC, and Michele, IK7JGQ) are very active as IR0PS in the moment. They can be found on 14185 kHz almost daily from 1730-1815 UTC, but also from 0730-0830 UTC.

BAHAMAS, C6, NA-113 C6A/K4PUF and C6A/N4KFT intend to activate Long Island (NA-113) from Feb 8-13.

BULGARIA, LZ Gosho, LZ1ZF, is using the special event callsign LZ35ZF to celebrate his 35 years on air until Dec 31, 2004. QSL via LZ1ZF, bureau ok.

CONGO, 9Q Since January 20 Gus, SM5DIC, is signing 9Q0AR during his spare time. QSL via SM5BFJ, unfortunately only direct.

DJIBOUTI, J2 Last Saturday DL2JRM announced in a QSO that he will stay in Djibouti again starting this week. He will operate as J28XX with 100 watts. QSL via DL2JRM. He may also activate an offshore island as J28XX/p. The length of his stay is not known.

DOMINICA, J7, NA-102 Lars, SM0CCM, is active again as J73CCM mainly in CW on 160-6m but also in RTTY and PSK31 between Feb 5 and Mar 4. Lars prefers QSL via bureau to his homecall.

EASTER ISLAND, CE0/Y, SA-001 Ralph, K0HML, plans to visit Easter Island from Feb 8-12. He intends to work on all bands during his spare time (most likely 2200-0300 UTC and after 1400 UTC). His call is not known yet.

ERITREA, E3 Five British radio amateurs (Andy, G3AB, Steve, G3VMW, Alan, G3XAQ, Rob, GM3YTS, and Steve, G4EDG) will go to Eritrea in mid February. They will be located in Hotel Nyala in Asmara. They plan to hit the airwaves with three stations on all bands (160-6m) 24 hours a day for about two weeks. A participation in the ARRL CW DX Contest is planned as well. These frequencies were announced:

     CW: 1828, 3507, 7007, 10107, 14027, 18077, 21027,24897,28027,50107 kHz;
     SSB: 3790, 7070, 14195, 18145, 21195, 24945, 28495 and 50150 kHz;
     RTTY/PSK31: 3570, 7037, 10137, 14070, 18097, 21077, 24917, 28107 kHz.
		 

QSLs via bureau, eQSLs will not be supported.

GHANA, 9G After repairing the antennae at the Technical University in Accra Alan, G3XAQ, should hit the airwaves as 9G5XA around Feb 6. He will be QRV in CW only until Feb 9. QSL via G3XAQ.

HUNGARY, HA Hungary will become a new member of the European Union on May 1st. To celebrate this extraordinary event the special event stations HA2004EU (QSL via HA5XXA) and HA2004UNI (QSL via HA6QT) will be QRV throughout this year. More information is available at the website: http://ha2004eu.hu

IRAQ, YI George, K7YMA, received the callsign YI9YMA and will become active on 40-10m as soon as possible. He is struggling a noise level of S7-S9.

MALAYSIA, 9M Rich, PA0RRS, is going to become QRV from several places in Malaysia in February and March. He will sign 9M2/PA0RRS from Kuala Lumpur from Feb 6-9. His next stop will be Keningau Island (OC-088) from where he will sign 9M6/PA0RRS from Feb 9-20. His last activity will be from Penang Island (AS-015) signing 9M2/PA0RRS between Feb 20 and Mar 2. QSL via PA0RRS, bureau ok.

MAYOTTE, FH, AF-027 Maurice, FH/F6AIG, is momentarily active from Petite Terre (AF-027). You can find him on 14130 kHz around 1700 UTC.

SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS, VP8/SS, AN-010 Oleg, UA1PBA, is signing R1ANF during his spare time. He will spend the Antarctic winter there together with Alex, UA1PAW, and Slava, UA1PAI. Expect more activities of them by the end of February.

ST LUCIA, J6, NA-108 A group of HAMs of the Southwest Ohio DX Association (SWODXA) led by Jack, K9JE, will show up on the bands as J68AR from Feb 11-25. They also plan to take part in the ARRL CW DX Contest. QSL via K9JE. --- Scott, N9AG, will sign J68AS mainly on 160m from Feb 11-25.

US VIRGIN ISLANDS, KP2, NA-106 John, W8LBY, and Norm, K8NI, are QRV as WP2Z from St Croix at the moment. They are emphasizing the WARC bands and 80/160m until Feb 10.

USA, W The Metro Amateur Radio Club activates the Chicago Harbor Breakwater South Lighthouse (ARLHS USA-1185) as K9Y in CW/SSB on 40/20/15/10m between Feb 7, 1600 UTC, and Feb 8, 2400 UTC.QSL via N9TN, ONLY direct. --- Members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff Tactical Amateur Radio Club, the Long Island DX Association and the Brandon Amateur Radio Society are going to activate Honeymoon Island (NA-034) in Florida on Feb 7/8. They plan to work with two stations on 10/15/20m during the day and with one station on 40m during the night hours. They will sign W2NDP/4 on the usual IOTA frequencies. QSLs via W2NDP.
