Solar activity was up a bit last week, while geomagnetic activity was quite low. This is a nice combination for HF propagation, giving us a little better conditions on higher frequencies while absorption is lower.
Low activity is expected to continue, with a gradually declining solar flux rising slightly again after January 22. A recurring coronal hole is expected around January 20, but it should not cause a great disturbance.
Sunspot Numbers for January 4 through 10 were 48, 69, 57, 45, 53, 27 and 13, with a mean of 44.6. 10.7 cm flux was 85.9, 84.9, 82.7, 82.5, 79.3, 75.9 and 73.8, with a mean of 80.7.
