Thanks to the Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Society, Northern Ohio DX Association, Ohio/Penn PacketCluster Network, KE2LJ, W3UR & The Daily DX, N4AA & QRZ DX, N4UQM, AC7DX, W5IJU & Island/DX News, EA2CLU, G4BUE & DX News Sheet, G0WMW, HA0DU, LU6EF, ON4BAM, OZ8ABE, URE EA DX and VK4AAR for the following DX information.

3A, MONACO. The "DX News Sheet" reports the special event station 3A7A will be active April 15-30th. The station will be active all on bands/modes to celebrate 700 years of the Grimaldi Dynasty. QSL via bureau.

3B, MAURITIUS. Kenton, NK6F, will be visiting 3B8CF and plans to be active from his QTH as 3B8/NK6F. Operations will be from April 20th to June 8th, with activity mainly on CW. QSL to home call.

3C0, ANNOBON ISLAND. A DXpedition is being planned for next May. The URE (The IARU National Society) is coordinating through the URE EA DX. The operation will use three complete stations (plus some other back-up rigs) with linear amplifiers. The dates of activity will be from May 20-27th. Operators will be: EA3AOK, EA3BT, EA4BPJ, EA4BT, EA5AD, EA5GRC, EA6BH, EA6WV, EA7BJ, EA7JB, DJ9ZB, EA4BQ/OH0XX, EA8AH/OH1RY and W9EVI. QSL via EA4URE. Their budget has been calculated to be 45,000 U.S. green stamps, so the team is looking for contributions. Two planes will be loaded for transportation of operators and material to the island. Any questions about this operation must be sent to: hf@ure.es. They plan to have more information available via their WEB-site. The URL address is: http://www.ure.es/3c0dx.html.

3W (XV), VIETNAM. Activity continues regularly from here. Nick, 3W5FM, can be found usually before 1130z on 40 meters (around 7005 kHz), working Japan and east coast U.S. stations. Then after 1400z on 30 meters, Nick works the west coast U.S. stations on 10101 kHz. Nick does not leave Europe out, between 1530 and 1730z, he can be found on 14009 kHz working Europe on 14009 kHz. QSL via UA0FM. If you do not have any luck with Nick, look for Torsten, XV7TH, just before 1530z on 14195 kHz usually listening up. QSL via SK7AX.

3Y, BOUVET (DXpedition delayed). The 1997 SSIDXG operation has been delayed until December, 1998, on the authority of the Norwegian Polar Institute. The Convention of the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Lining Resources (CCAMLR) is establishing an ecosystem monitoring program and permission to land has been revoked until a management plan is in place. The Institute's concern is that all activity will disturb the environment to some degree which might cause an unacceptable impact on the monitoring program. Tony, WA4JQS, and Barry, ZS1FJ, are continuing their efforts for this and other operations.

6Y, JAMAICA. The "Island/DX News" states K6JAH will be active through April 13th. The callsign was not given. Operations will be on 40-10 meters with some RS-12.

7O, YEMEN. Steve, HA0DU, reports Zoli, HA5PP, told him he wil be stationed in Aden, Yemen starting in May for a longer period of time, probably a year or so. He is going to try to get permission to operate from Aden, and he will do his best to make his license approved and confirmed by the authorities in Sanaa. Zoli has been successful in the past to secure licensese in Vietnam (3W8DX) and Laos (XW8DX) when it was extremely difficult, so KYFC. His call sign will be published later. He is planning to come on the air in late June. From Aden, he will be making several "side trips" to other countries (E3, T5, ST, ST0 and J2).

8Q, MALDIVE ISLANDS. Juanjo, EA2BP, and Jose, EA2CLU, will be active from May 4-14th, using the callsigns 8Q7BP and 8Q7LU respectively. They will active on all bands SSB/CW, maybe also RTTY. The QSL routes are via home calls. For more information, send E-mail to Jose, ea2clu@ctv.es.

ET, ETHIOPIA. "The Daily DX" reports ET3SID was heard on 14082 working Europe and east coast U.S. stations on RTTY from 1230-1330z. Afterwards he went to SSB on 14284.

IOTA NEWS.... Maurice, ON4BAM, announces he will activate three IOTAs while on holiday with his family. Planned operations will take place July 19th to August 9th, using the callsigns GM/ON4BAM/p and GM/ON4BAM/m. Activity will be on the IOTA frequencies (highest band possible, propagation permitting). Look for him on EU-005 (mainland Scotland) during the whole period except; EU-010 (Isle of Lewis) July 31st- August 2nd (noon); and EU-008 (Isle of Skye) August 2nd (noon) - August 4th (noon). QSL is preferred via CBA (direct with SAE + postage).

KH2, GUAM. During Jeff's (N4UQM) 2 years stay here, he will be signing N4UQM/KH2. He will be active on SSB and RTTY on all bands 80-10 meters. His QSL Mnager will be Carl, WB4UBS, and his address is: #1 Sweet Bay Drive; Columbia, SC 29209.

KH7K, KURE ISLAND. It has been announced Art, N2NB, expects/plans to operate from Kure from May 17-23rd. It will be a one-man show at this point. Equipment is an IC-741, A Centaur amp, and an HF9VX, vertical for 160-10 meters. He will try to set the antenna at the waters edge if possible. The expected callsign will be close to KH7K/N2NB. QSLs to NW8F. Art is an employee of a Federal Agency of the U.S., and has had favorable discussions with the Coast Guard, and OTHER necessary agencies. Let's wish him luck.

PIRATE ALERT! A station working as OH0/OZ1WF is a pirate. The real OZ1WF has not been active on HF for years. OZ1WF has received a lot of direct QSL for this operation and he will be sending the cards back. The slim often operates on 80 and 160 meters.

QSL INFO AND NEWS......

TN, CONGO. Begin looking for Piero, IK2BHX, who is currently active as 9Q5HX for six months and hopes to be active from here. There is no report on what callsign he will be using. QSL via IK2MRZ.

WORLD'S FIRST EVER DX! Commemorating 100 years of DX (since Marconi's first contact between GW and G on 18 May 1897), "Weston-super-Mare RS" has now finalized details allowing an operation from Brean Down, the location of the original G station. The "SPECIAL" callsign GB100BD will be on the air May 17 and 18th ONLY, along with Barry ARS's GB100LP and GB100FI operations already announced. QSL information: GB100BD via RSGB BUREAU ONLY and GB100LP and GB100FI via Glyn, GW0ANA. Glyn will also handle requests for certificates, available for working any two of the special event stations (certificates will be specially endorsed for those working all three). ADDED NOTE: Just a reminder, that the "10th International Marconi Day" takes place April 19th. Some details on stations and other activites will be listed in next week's bulletin.
