IOTA NEWS..............

J7, DOMINICA (Update). George, K5KG, reports this past week that he is still on target for the J75KG operation July 1st through July 11th. He is expected to be active by the time you read this, depending on travel, customs clearance, equipment set up, etc. There will be daily operations, including activity in the IARU contest. He thanks the efforts of Lambert, J73LC, for the help in planning. Latest word is that Dominica is experiencing some power shortages due to equipment outages. They are using load shedding throughout the island to deal with the problem, so he may experience some unexpected outages. Expectations are for daily outages in the order of 6 to 8 hours, so if he QRTs abruptly, this is no doubt the cause. Art, N2AU, is serving as pilot for the operation and is doing a yeoman's job handling incoming sked requests. He can be reached at: n2au@lightlink.com

JW, SVALBARD. Look for the "Modum Group of NRRL" to be active as JW7M from July 6-13th. Also, look for activity on 144 MHz. They will be on the air on all bands and modes 24 hours a day. They will work also on RTTY and frequencies will be announced later. For 6m enthusiasts, look for the beacon JW7SIX on 50.068 MHz. The QSL Manager is LA7M (via the Bureau is ok) to: Modum Group of NRRL, P.O.Box 48, 3341 Aamot, Norway. For more info, check the Web page at: http://www.dxpedition.org

KP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. Dave, AG8L, will be making another trip to the Windwood contest station on St. Croix where he will be active as WP2Z in the upcoming IARU Contest. Before and after the contest he will be active as KP2/AG8L with NN6C as the QSL manager. The QSL route for WP2Z is via KU9C. Both managers accept bureau cards. Dave is not sure yet what (single op) entry category he will be using during the contest. His decision is to be made after he finds out the current status of the station.

LIGHT HOUSE ACTIVITY. During the 2000 lighthouse weekend, SV1ENG and SV1EFP will operate from Akrotiri Light house on Santorini Island with the special callsign SW8LH (CW only). They will try to cover all the bands above 30 meters. Perhaps there will be some PSK31 from SV1ELG. The team plans to arrive on Augusy 17th for unpacking and antennas instalation, and depart on Auguust 22nd. Out of the time limits of the "Lighthouse Weekend", they will operate with their homecall/8. QSL via SV1ENG. OPDX InterNet Subscribers will receive more details on this event as as an additional bulletin put out by Mike, GM4SUC.
