5W, SAMOA. Ted/K8AQM and David/K8AA will be active as 5W0TR and 5W0AA, respectively, July 2-12th. Activity will be 40-10 meters mainly CW, Digital and some SSB. QSL both callsigns via K8AA.
6O, SOMALILAND. Baldur, DJ6SI, who has been active as 6O0X from here, will be active for a few more days (probably the end of the week). Most of his activity has been mainly on 20/17/15 meters CW, however, he has been on other bands. Somaliland, which has declared itself independent from Somalia (T5) in 1991, does not qualify for anything for DXCC. The license was issued by Somaliland government, not Somali government.
CONTEST DATE CHANGED. Jim, K8MR, reports that the 2002 Ohio QSO Party (OQP) date, as published in the Contest Calendar in the May/June NCJ, has been changed to Saturday, August 24th. This is to avoid the Labor Day weekend. The OQP runs from 1600z Saturday to 0400z Sunday, August 25th.

DXCC NEWS................
FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELO ISLANDS. Jean Christophe, FP5AC, President of the Saint-Pierre & Miquelon Islands ARC, informs that their next DXpedition will take place on June 21-23rd. They will go to the Ile aux Chevaux (Horses Island - IOTA NA-032, DIFO FP009). The Ile aux Chevaux is a little 90m diameter island located in the Barachois off Miquelon. The crew consists of four "JEANS", Jean-Christophe/FP5AC, Jean-Pierre/FP5CJ, Jean/FP5BU, Jean-Marc/FP5BZ and the cook, SWL Claude. They will go first to Miquelon village by Land Rover, then they will use two little boats to go and land on the Ile aux Chevaux. Jean-Christophe, FP5AC, states a lot of thanks go out to Monsieur Joseph LUCAS, the owner of the island who gave them the kind permission for landing and staying there. The ARC's callsign, FP5KE, will be used on all bands from 160 to 10 meters and they also plan to be active on 50 Mhz. A special QSL card will be issued, so listen carefully to the operator's instructions to get one.
GOLDEN JUBILEE. The complete press release by Don, G3XTT, GB50 Publicity Officer, will be sent to all OPDX InterNet Subscribers as an additional bulletin. GB50 activity will take place from a marquee on the North Terrace of Windsor Castle from 0900z on May 29th until 2100z on June 9th, with operation daily from 0700-2200z on all bands 80 through 6 meters. IOTA NEWS.............
K1B QRT. The K1B DXpedition to Baker Island finished its operation on May 7th, at 1800z. Last official report says about 86000 QSOs were made. Logs are still not completely uploaded on the K1B Web site.
LIGHTHOUSE NEWS AND ACTIVITY...............
NET ACTIVITY. Donald, KB6QLC, suggests to check out the Ten-Ten nets on 28800 kHz, as well as 28380 kHz which is active everyday (except Sunday) at 1800z.
OC, PERU. To commemorate/celebrate the foundation of the International Telecomunication Union on May 17th (World Telecommunications Day), all OA stations may use the special prefix "OC" between May 13-19th, on all authorized bands and modes. Look for station OC4O. The official station of the Radio Club Peruano will be on the air during that week, on all bands, SSB and also CW. Also, the Radio Club Peruano, under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, Housing and Construction (MTCVC) of Peru, has created a "World Telecommunicacions Day - International Contest". OJ0, MARKET REEF. Look for Seppo, OH1VR, to be active as OJ0VR from June 7-11th and July 8-11th. Activity will be on 160-6m CW/SSB. He will use a A4S and a 5 element on 6m. QSL via OH1VR CBA.
OJ0, MARKET REEF. The group of SM5AJV, SM0GNS, SM5HJZ and SM0HPL will be active from Market Reef (EU-053) from June 13-16th. They will travel by boat, and the unpredictable sea surrounding Market Reef may cause landing problems. Any changes in plans will be announced on the Web page: http://www.mistra.se/oj0/ Operation plans are CW and SSB on 160-6 meters. They will try to be on the air with at least two station 24 hours a day. Other modes might be possible (RTTY, PSK31 etc.). QSL Manager is SM5HJZ. QSL via the bureau is prefered. If possible use the QSL-request form on the home page in order to speed up the QSL-handling. Your QSL-card is not necessary. OY, FAROE ISLANDS. Tom/DL2RTK and Ric/DL2VFR will be active as OY/homecall, May 20-22th, from Streymoy Island (EU-018). This will also count for Strymoy Island Lighthouse (ARLHS FAR-034). QSL via home calls.
P4, ARUBA. Mike/N3MT and Dick/W3RM will be active from Aruba, May 29th through June 19th, as P40MT and P40RM. Operation will be on 160 through 6 meters, mainly CW, some SSB. QSL via their U.S. calls, CBA.
P5, NORTH KOREA. Ed, P5/4L4FN, is back in Pyongyang after a little holiday in different parts of Asia. He is now using an Ameritron AL80A amplifier that was donated to him by Martti Laine, OH2BH, Bernie McClenny, W3UR and Al Baker, W5IZ, which he picked up on his stop over in Beijing. Also, this past week was a "BIG JOY" for many DXers who received their P5 QSL in the mail. (ed. It was worth the wait! TNX you Bruce)

T30, WESTERN KIRIBATI. Eric, T30ES (N1JSY), on the island of Butaritari in Western Kiribati, will be off the air the until approximately May 16th to attend Peace Corps meetings in Tarawa. TN, CONGO (CONGO DXPEDITION 2002 READY TO START!!). Josep, EA3BT, informs OPDX that he and Nuria, EA3WL, are ready to start their DXpedition. They will be leaving for Brazzaville, May 16th, and hope to be on air as soon as they get everything setup. Their callsigns will be TN3B and TN3W (to be issued upon arrival). They are going to put 2 simultaneous stations on air. The bands will be from 80-6 meters, SSB, RTTY and some CW. They expect to be able to have their logs online and update them daily. You can check it at the Web page. They have also put the propagation tables on their Web page from all the different zones of the world towards TN.
TY, BENIN. After their trip in North Benin in 2001, operators F5MOO/TY7Z, F5CWU/TY9F, F5AOV/TY4DX and F1PJB/TY6FB are planning another DXpedition to the South part of Benin (Grand-Popo, near the Togo border) which will take place July 15th through August 14th. More details to follow later.
UE9, ASIATIC RUSSIA. Look for special event callsigns to be used by a Siberian radio amateurs correspondence club called "Radio-Prim" (RPC). They will be activating the special events callsigns UE9OWQ and UE9ORQ now through 0000z May 20th, to commemorate the 9th Anniversary of the formation of the RPC on 15th on May, 1993. They expect to have 65 members of the RPC active on the bands. A special award is available called, "Radio-Prim.Novosibirsk" ("R-P.N"), during this time of activity. XE1CI UPDATE. Lenny, K5OVC, reports that Nellie is seeing a therapist daily at her house. The therapist has Nellie walking. She took 8 steps. The therapist has started Nellie on her recovery program. As soon as she is able, she wants to get on the radio and her computer; the doctor has OKed it. Nellie wants to thank all her amateur radio friends for their love and support, and thoughts and prayers.
YA, AFGHANISTAN. YA5T should be active again this week both by Peter/ON6TT and Mark/ON4WW. Mark will be there for the next two months, Peter will only be there for a few days and Robert, S53R, will be there within a fews weeks. He is currently in Palestine.
