9A, CROATIA (23 Islands to be Activate!). Croatian operator Oto, 9A4OP/p, plans to activate 23 Croatian islands during a two weeks period. He will visit two-to-three islands per day starting on July 24th. The list of islands are available on the Web page at (see "next activities"): http://www.inet.hr/9a6aa/ All of the islands, except one (Zecevo island, CI-147, NO IOTA) are in EU-170.
9A, MORE CROATIAN ISLANDS. Operators Frano (9A5V/p), Matko (9A3VM/p), and Fredy (9A5KV/p) were expected to activate four Croatian Islands on June 22-23rd: Tajan (CI-221, EU-016), Crkvina (CI-163, EU-016), Kosmec (CI-180, EU-016) and Olipa (CI-079, NO IOTA).
AP, PAKISTAN. Bruce, KK5DO, informs OPDX that it has been almost 3 years since Asad, AP2AUM, was last active on the satellites. So, he has now started operating HF and satellite again. Currently, he is operating on FO-20 and FO-29. Bruce is working on getting Asad some downlink equipment for AO-40 (2.4 GHz). Also, Bruce mentions that he is the QSL Manager for AP2AUM. Pakistan is very rare on the satellites, and Asad is the only satellite operator there. On HF, look for AP2AUM on 15 meters SSB around 21250 kHz between 1330 and 1400z.
FO, FRENCH POLYNESIA. Paolo, IK2QPR, informs OPDX that he will be active from the island of Bora Bora (OC-067) between August 10-14th as FO/IK2QPR. Activity will be on SSB/CW on 80-10 meters. QSL via IK2QPR: Paolo Fava, via Bertani 8, 46100 Mantova, ITALY.
FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON (Also Zone 2). After their St. Paul Island operations, Ed/W0SD and his wife Edith/W0OE will continue on and operate from FP8, July 27-29th. Activity will be on HF and 6 meters, same frequencies as the St. Paul operation. They will use a 6 meter beam left by K1TOL. FR, REUNION ISLAND. Tommy, WE7K, informs OPDX that Pat, FR5FD, who has been very active from Reunion Island, will be returning to France on September 8th. Thus far, he has sent out 103,000 QSL cards since September 1999. Pat was heard this past week on 18070 kHz around 0330z.
IOTA NEWS.................
JW, SVALBARD. Tom, LA4LN, informs OPDX that he will again be operating as JW4LN from Spitsbergen (IOTA EU-26) and Bear Island (IOTA EU-27), July 6-21st, while on work. The Bear Island operation is planned to take place July 9-16th, landing weather permitting! He will be on the radio mainly in the evenings (local time) and when time permits. Check the lower CW portions, especially the 40, 30, and 20 meter bands (or other bands which may be open); and 6 meters (50150 kHz, +/- 15 kHz). Equipment will be an ICOM IC-706 MkII and mainly wire antennas. PSK-31 and RTTY are possible, but not from Bear Island. LA, NORWAY (Rare 6m Grids). Tom, LA4LN, informs OPDX that during the period of June 18th and July 3rd, he will be active on 6 meters (50150, +/- 15 kHz) as LA4LN/m while driving from the South to Northern Norway. He will activate a number of rare QTH locator grid squares. On Tuesday, June 25th, between 1700-2100z, he will operate as LA1V from the rare grid square JP78 in the VHF Nordic Activity Contest using 2 stacked 5 element Yagi antennas. Check 50.165 MHz. LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITY AND NEWS.................
LLDXT WILL BE ACTIVE AGAIN! The Low-Land DXpedition Team (LLDXT) will organize their next DXpedition from October 12th through November 1st, to Dominica/J7 (NA-101) and Montserrat/VP2M (NA-103). The team will consist of Bouke/PA0ZH, Ronald/PA3EWP, Enno/PA5EA and Rob/PA5ET, who will start their activity on Dominica on Monday, October 14th. Subsequently, the team will travel to Montserrat on Monday, October 21st. Henk/PA3GCV and Martin/PA4WM will join the team on October 23rd. The Montserrat activity will include a serious Multi/Single entry in the CQWW SSB Contest. The operation will last until November 1st. Callsigns will probably not be known before arrival. Their aim is to obtain a special 160m callsign and a special contest callsign. More information will be given in due time. They are currently mounting a web site, which will be updated in the coming period. NP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. Bruce/W4OV, Julio/WD4JR, John/NP2B and Joe/VE3BW will be operating from St. Croix in the CQWW SSB Contest, October 26-28th as NP2B. They will be arriving on October 22nd, and plan to operate the WARC bands and especially 6 meters prior to the contest using their own callsigns portable NP2. They will have a 4 element quad on 6 meters for pre-contest QSOs.
OJ0, MARKET REEF. Before operating in the WRTC2002 in Helsinki, Roland/K9LA and Vicky/AE9YL will be active from here July 8-11th, using the callsign OJ0/AE9YL. Reference numbers are ARLHS MAR001 and IOTA EU053. They will be active on all bands on or near the ARLHS frequencies (1970, 3970, 7270, 14270, 21370 and 28370 kHz). QSL to home call.
P5, NORTH KOREA. Bruce, KK5DO, informs OPDX that Ed, P5/4L4FN, will be out of the country from June 24th through July 1st. He will be in Beijing, China, picking up supplies including a Hex Beam for 10 and 15 meters, satellite antenna and down converter as well as additions to his Butternut for 6/12/17 meters. Also sent was a rotor for the Hex Beam.

V4, ST. KITTS. Joe, VE3BW, informs OPDX that in November he will be returning here to operate the CQWW CW Contest from a new contest site on St. Kitts as V47CA.
W1AW/5 TO BE ACTIVATED! Look for some 40 operators/members, mostly from the Central Texas DX and Contest Club, to activate W1AW/5 from six contest stations during the upcoming IARU HF World Championship on July 13-14th. W1AW/5 will be operating on 160/80/40/20/15/10 meters CW/SSB during the contest for the entire 24 hour period. QSL via W1AW. WRTC2002'S NEWS (Att. Prefix Hunters), TEAM AND REFEREE ROSTER CHANGES.....
XW, LAOS. Hiroo, XU2A, will once again be active as XW0X from Vientiane, Laos. He will be there with his sister for one week and then head to Thailand with her before going alone back to Japan.
