3B8, MAURITIUS. Massimo, IZ4DPV, informs OPDX that he will be active as 3B8/IZ4DPV from September 10-20th (during his free time). Activity will be on 20-10 meters, including the WARC bands. He will use a Kenwood TS-50 w/100 watts into a vertical antenna and monoband lambda. QSL only direct via homecall on QRZ.com.

3D2, ROTUMA AND FIJI ISLANDS. Look for Stephane, J28VS, to be active as 3D2VS/p from Rotuma (OC-060) between August 30th and September 5th. Also, look for Stephane to be active as 3D2VS from Suva (OC-016), Fiji Islands, September 6th to 11th. Activity will be on all HF bands SSB. QSL via F6KHM, either direct or through the bureau.

8Q, MALDIVES. Emanuela, IZ2ELV, is expected to be active from Velavaru as 8Q7LY until August 31st. Activity will be on 20 and 10 meters SSB with a dipole antenna. QSL via bureau to her home callsign.

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Look for Kazu, JA1RJU, to be active from here as 9M6JU, November 18-25th. Activity will be on HF and 6 meters. QSL via JA1RJU.

CE9, SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS. Ricardo, CE9R, is expected to be active mainly on SSB on 15/10 meters from the Chilean base "Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva" (WABA CE-03) on King George Island (AN-010) until September. QSL via CE3HDI.

CY0, SABLE ISLAND. Reports indicate that George/VE3NZ, Nick/VE3EY and Lali/VE3NE will be active as CY0MM from November 15-26th, only if the group can raise enough funds for the operation by October 15th. Planned activity will be on HF bands and 6 meters on CW/SSB/RTTY. Their operation will inclued an entry in CQ WW CW DX Contest. They have currently developed a Web page at: http://www.dipole.com

DU, PHILIPPINES (IOTA Ops). It has been reported that Ken, G3OCA, will be going to the Philippines in September to activate the Calamian Island Group (OC-090) and the Cuyo Islands (OC-120) as DU1/G3OCA, and also Sarangani Islands (OC-175) as DU9/G3OCA. He will operate CW and SSB with 100 watts to either a 3-element yagi or a multiband vertical. Exact dates will be given nearer departure time. QSL via G3OCA (Russian stations QSL via UA4SKW).

DXCC NEWS.............

EN67 DXPEDITION. A group of operators plan to activate the callsign K8B from grid square EN67 and also activate the Copper Harbor Lighthouse US-193. The operators of this Brockway Mountain expedition in Keweenaw County, Michigan, are: Rob/NV8V (CW/SSB), John/AB8KO (AM/FM/SSB), Duane/N9SSN (SSB), Renee/N9RK (SSB), Scott/W8UFO (CW/SSB) and Vince/KA8FFM 9CW/SSB). Their goal is to work as many as possible on HF and then work on the VHF-UHF stations. On the HF bands, they will operate on or near the lighthouse frequencies, plus or minus QRM.

They will operate/work split on 80/40 meters for Europe stations. Also, they will operate on the WARC bands. Activity will take place between September 21-23rd. If the conditions warrant, they could stay an extra day. They now have a Web site with all of the expedition details at: http://members.aol.com/nv8v/

IOTA NEWS................

JT, MONGOLIA. Ken/K4ZW and Karl/K4YT are expected to be in Ulaanbaatar between September 9-15th. Look for some topband activty.

KH6, HAWAII. Hiro, JA5XAE, will be taking his 2002 DX vacation starting on the Island of Oahu and will be active as KH6/JA5XAE between the period of September 22-26th. He also plans to visit/operate from Waikiki. He will use an IC-706MK2 with an OUTBACKER OB8 antenna. Activity will be on SSB, RTTY, and CW. Suggested frequencies are: 7007, 7077, 10107 14007, 14087, 14177, 18137, 18087, 21007, 21087, 21277, 24897, 24937, 28007, 28087, 28477 and 50117 kHz.

LIGHTHOUSE/LIGHTSHIP NEWS AND ACTIVITY.............

LX, LUXEMBOURG. Dutch operators Peter/PA2PKZ, Arend/PA2AWU, Herman/PA0TEN, Roel/PA1DYK, Harry/PA3HEP, Frans/PA5CA and Jan PA5RA will be active from Wiltz using the callsign LX/PA6Z from September 21-28th. Operation will be 24/7 on 160-10 meters and possibly also 6m (if local TVI permits), on SSB, CW and RTTY. They will concentrate on the WARC bands and RTTY. QSL via PA1KW (via the bureau or direct: Bert van Holst, Ien Dalessingel 357, 7207 LJ Zutphen, The Netherlands).

MOST WANTED SURVEY (2002). Here is your chance to parrticipate in the DX Magazine's annual "2002 Most Wanted Survey". The survey will be conducted between September 1st through October 15th. OH0, ALAND ISLAND. Ari, OH5DX, will be active as OH0/OH5DX from August 29-31st. Activity will be on all bands CW/SSB. QSL via OH5DX: Ari Korhonen, Kreetalank. 9A1, FIN29200 Harjavalta, Finland.

PIRATE OPERATION. Stations identifying as HE0A and HB0A have been reported on the bands in recent months. Fred Tinner, HB9AAQ, the President of USKA, has checked with both the Switzerland and Liechtenstein licensing authorities, and has verified that the callsign's HE0A and HB0A have never been issued. Therefore these stations are pirates, and please do not send any QSL cards to the reported manager or to the Bureaus.

QSL INFO AND NEWS.............

RTTY SURVEY. Don, AA5AU, is conducting a "RTTY Most Needed DXCC Entities Survey". Instructions on completing and submitting the survey form are at: http://www.aa5au.com/rttysurvey.html This is more of a "digital" mode survey than just RTTY mode since the RTTY DXCC Award includes all digital modes. The entities listed on the form are nearly exact as from the ARRL DXCC list on their website with only a few exceptions. The more entries received, the more accurate the results. Anyone who has operated RTTY (or digital) is asked to participate. It doesn't matter how many countries you need on RTTY, please take the time to include your input. Please make sure your data is complete and accurate. As of August 22nd, with 170 submissions, here are the top "10 Most Needed Entities" on RTTY so far:

S7, SEYCHELLES. Look for Lorenzo, IK6PTH, to be active as S79TH from Mahe (AF-024) from September 7-16th. Activity will be on SSB. QSL via his home callsign either direct or through the bureau.

SPECIAL EVENT. The "14th Busan Asian Games" special event stations will be operating from August 10th through October 23rd, 2002. The special event station are:

SPECIAL EVENT. Special event station JU840C is expected to be active from October 21-31st to celebrate the 840th anniversary of Gengis Khan, the founder of the Mongolian empire. The Mongolian Radio Sport Federation is organizing an international DXpedition to Gengis Khan's birthplace in the Khentii Province.

SPECIAL EVENT. The Chatelleraud Radio Club is currently active with the special event callsign TM2CMM until September 1st to celebrate the World Championships for hot-air balloons. Suggested frequencies are: 1846, 3786, 7086, 14186, 18146, 21286, 24946, 28486, 50216 and 144286 kHz (+/- QRM). QSL to F5KOK via bureau.

SPECIAL EVENT. Look for special event station UM9AA to be active August 27th through September 5th to celebrate Uzbekistan's 11 years of independence. The 1st of September is the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Activity will be on all bands. QSL via UK9AA: Petrov Fedor, P.O. Box 58, Tashkent 700000, Uzbekistan.

TK, CORSICA. W. Rainer, Lotsch, DL2RVL, will be active as TK/DL2RVL until September 14th. He is expected to be running QRP. QSL via his home callsign.

V6, MICRONESIA. Kazu/JA0VSH and his wife Miyuki/JG0PBJ will be active as V63KZ and V63MP, respectively, from Pohnpei (OC-010), September 9-15th. Activity is expected to be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB. VK9C, COCOS-KEELING ISLAND. Remember to look for Hirotada, JA0SC, to be active this week as VK9CI until August 29th. He plans to operate mainly on 15 meters SSTV and RTTY with 200 watts into a mono-bander. QSL via JA0SC: Hirotada Yoshiike, 722-1 Shiba Matsushiro-cyo, Nagano-city 381-1214, Japan.

VP2, MONTSERRAT. Eugene/WA3IOU and his XYL, Marlene/N3LGY, will be going on a vacation/DX here October 10-25th. Their callsigns will be VP2MEB and VP2MAB, respectively. Their pilot station will be Ron, K3MI, (E-mail address: k3mi@charter.net ). Activity will be on 160-10 meters SSB only. QSL via CBA.

XU, CAMBODIA (Possibly an IOTA Op). Karel, ON5TN, informs OPDX that Max/ON5UR, Wim ON6NP and himself will be active from Cambodia, September 12-26th, with the callsigns XU7ACJ and XU7ACN. QSL via ON6NP. During the period of September 21-23rd, they will try to activate Koh Poah Island (AS-133) with the callsign XU7AUR. QSL via ON5UR. Their activity will be on 160-6 meters on all modes.
