VE1, CANADA (A Contest Operation With A Different Twist!). Dan, K6IF, has announced that he was invited by Jim Fisher, VE1JF, to operate from his station for the upcoming CQWW WPX SSB Contest. The interesting twist about Dan's operation is that he plans to write about it and put it on the Web. He states, "This will be a major expedition for me, since I have never operated in a serious contest from outside California. I've decided to write up this effort in a similar way to my 2000 10 Meter effort - although the content will be quite different. While the 10 Meter story was mostly about planning and constructing the antennas and station; this story will be much more focused on my planning and strategizing for the operation of the contest. I will have the pleasure of operating a very well designed station that needs only a small amount of work to be competitive." If you would like to follow his saga, Dan has posted the first chapter (a short introduction) at: http://www.k6if.com/ He hopes you will enjoy it, and your comments/suggestions are valued.

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. David, KY1V, will be active as VP5/KY1V from March 11-18th. He states, "For the hams whom would like more than just a signal report, I will be actively pursuing short, meaningful QSOs from Whitby, North Caicos Island." QSL via KY1V. More information can be found at: http://www.ky1v.com

VP9, BERMUDA (VHF). Jon, N0JK, expects to be active June 13-16th from VP9GE's Tarrafal Apartments. He plans to operate mainly in the June VHF QSO Party as a Single-Op/Low Power entry. His station will be an IC-706 MII w/100 watts, a 5 element M2 on 6 meters and 9 element M2 on 2 meters. He hopes to be active on June 13th during the peak times for Europe and plans to be active during the entire contest period. Tear down will be Monday morning June 16th.

WRTC "FINLAND 2002" VIDEO. Review by Tedd, KB8NW: Let me first say I am not a contester, and from the start I was wondering whether or not I would really enjoy this video. However, as always, James Brooks's, 9Y1YC, videos are truly interesting and have excellent videography. There is only one way to describe this video on the "World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) Finland 2002" and that is: "The world's top contesters battle it out in an Olympic style atmosphere using high tech for scoring and refereeing." To shorten this, WOW! These guys are serious when it comes to contesting. As the camera moves from shack to shack and from operator to operator, you can see that this 24 hour event is stressful and very competitive. I highly recommend that you add this video to your collection, and I truly believe non-contesters (like myself) will enjoy this video. It is also available on DVD with special extras (rules, operators, scores). More details about the video can be found at: http://home1.pacific.net.sg/~jamesb/

ZF, CAYMAN ISLAND. Peter, N3GXF, is expected to be active as ZF2HW now through February 28th. Bands of activity are unknown at this time because Peter has a Technician Plus license. QSL via home callsign.
